Literacy!

Today, I was lucky enough to attend a PD which directly met my professional passion: literacy!  Though not yet employed on any permanent basis, I asked permission to join a PD session at a school where I do regular relief teaching, and fortunately they welcomed me.
Today's PD covered literacy-dedicated time, components of a balanced literacy block, guided reading and comprehension strategies. Common themes included the need for data-informed teaching and the need for differentiated yet flexible instruction.  
The content is incredibly broad and rich in complexity, but I left feeling inspired and excited to start teaching literacy to a class of my own.
